Bronze Vessel with Three Friends of Winter
Hanging scroll, ink and colour on paper, signed by the artist Xugu buxie, with three seals of his reading Xugu, xin yue tongguang, sanshi qi feng caotang, with a collector's seal of Ruan Yuan (1764-1849) reading Ruan shi jiamao cangqi.

In November 2020 Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II, which included the work Bronze Vessel with Three Friends of Winter by Xu Gu. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 977,500.00 (€ 105,538.58), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Xu Gu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chrysanthemums And Peaches in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 6,700,000.00 (€ 737,414.15).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im November 2020 führte Bonhams in Hong Kong die Auktion The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bronze Vessel with Three Friends of Winter von Xu Gu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 977.500,00 (€ 105.538,58) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Xu Gu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chrysanthemums And Peaches im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 6.700.000,00 (€ 737.414,15).
