Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Zheng Xie achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in July 2003. In the FINE CLASSICAL CHINESE PAINTINGS AND CALLIGRAPHY auction, the work Poems In Standard, Running And Cursive Script Calligraphy sold for HKD 1,183,750.00 (€ 123,279.24) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zheng Xie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bamboo And Rock in September 2014 with an auction result of USD 2,629,000.00 (€ 2,081,881.53).
