Annabelle Moison
Does true self identity require visibility?

My name is Annabelle Moison. I am an artist from the Netherlands, currently living in Luxembourg, where I have been based for the past three years. My journey in art is built on eight years of formal education, culminating in two diplomas in design and art. I graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, where I began in the fast-paced environment of the Designlab. Seeking a more reflective and research-driven approach, I transitioned to the Jewellery department, where I could explore ideas in greater depth and develop my own artistic language.
My practice has been shaped by experiences that bridge art, science, and the human condition. Internships in medical and scientific fields exposed me to innovative techniques that I now incorporate into my work. These experiences, along with collaborations in art studios, have informed my understanding of structure, vulnerability, and the complex systems that shape our perception of identity.
I draw on historical sources to explore philosophical questions about identity, anonymity, and self-worth. My latest works examine the experiences of women whose identities were suppressed by societal norms, connecting these stories to the narratives of the Magdalene Laundries. Through my art, I seek to give a voice to the unseen and challenge the systems that render individuals invisible.
