A cocoon-like cavity has been carved into a block of sandstone, oriented towards my own body, so that two people can lie opposite each other in the stone. A multi-sensory relationship with the stone becomes possible: pausing, listening, sensing are ways of communicating in order to connect with the stone as a different nature. Practicing how to deal with the strange, the different, is the basis for a vision of a society of togetherness: a cocoon-like cavity oriented towards my own body is carved into a sandstone block so that two people can lie opposite each other in the stone. Thüster limestones are shells of small sea creatures (Serpula Coacervata) compressed under pressure. Inspired by the special history of the formation of this stone from biogenic elements, I have formed it into a housing that is made up of several parts and supports each other.

For 34 days, I continuously sprinkled this block of marble with hydrochloric acid (HCl) using transfusion sets. Instead of shaping it myself, I let the form emerge through the "active powers" inherent in the stone. In the course of time, craters, cavities and crevices have formed, just as they might through natural corrosion processes. I see the openings and cavities as vital living spaces that offer an opportunity for the emergence and development of new life.
