Humanity & Nature

Gabriele Weide has been inspired by nature's unique characteristics for years. She dedicates her art to the current state of the world and significant environmental changes. Current developments play a more or less prominent role in her work. Watch the titles of her paintings, which reveal her unique perspective and artistic vision. They provide clues to the subject she intends to address.

Artistic Development

Gabriele Weide's love of nature was inspired by study trips to foreign countries, where she encountered many different cultures. Her pictures reflect her thoughts and celebrate the creative power of nature.

After studying in the department of Prof. Otto Näscher at the Folkwang School (now the Folkwang University of the Arts, Duisburg/Essen), she travelled to the western United States, South America and Asia. These trips laid the foundations for her visual world. These memories still influence her work today, as do current snapshots of the world. A versatile artist, she works with a variety of media, including drawing, oil and acrylic paints, as well as natural filling materials.

Gabriele Weide is sponsored by the Düsseldorf Culture Office and is a member of three professional associations: the BBK Düsseldorf e.V., the Malkasten e.V. and the Duisburg e.V.

Momentum Tree, Landscapes & Deserts

In her series Momentum Tree and Landscapes & Deserts, she demonstrates an interest in karstic rock formations and old trees with character, rather than lovely landscapes or well-formed plants. In 2015, a new topic emerged for her as a result of Storm Ela. This disaster destroyed many veteran trees. Since then, she has come to embrace these beautiful trees with character, drawing and painting these old stalwarts. They have defied environmental changes for decades, and Gabriele Weide celebrates their sculptural growth in her art.
