I create unique works that are records of light. Playing with notions of minimalism and perception, I aim to evoke in the viewer a slow, meditative way of watching.
I'm a visual artist working with light.
After starting out with classic analogue photography, the main focus of my work shifted to cameraless techniques and to exploring the essence of the photographic process.
My work is about light and its absence, about the idea of making visible to the eye what was previously imperceptible,
In the alchemical process in the darkroom, an ephemeral and fragile appearance manifests as an archaic record on the photosensitive material. As the photographic paper is exposed directly, there is no negative and each print is unique.
Inspired by the California Light and Space Art of the 1960s, I started using resin as my main material a few years ago. The material has an almost magical, captivating quality. I'm drawn to the physical presence and awareness of space that sculpture demands of the maker and of the viewer.
My sculptural works transform and change depending on light, time and our subjective view point. Colors may transition smoothly or be sharply delineated. Like the photographs, the sculptures are about time, perception and memory, representing the fragile beauty of our beings.
