Artist Statement

I am currently working on the medialisation of society and the resulting change in the individual's understanding of the subject. It's about analysing the individual and their being, their experiences and their impact on their existence.

I always paint the eyes first and then enter into intensive communication with my counterpart through the resulting eye contact. This moment of "looking at each other" has a very special appeal for me.

I rarely place "my people" in a spatial context. I try to work in a very reduced and simple way, focussing on the person. The person, the face or even the body are my canvas, the background or the room are usually unimportant and take a back seat.

In the end, you could say that in my work I search for what is ultimately there, for what really remains in the end.
