Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Aernout Smit could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES auction, the work A Dutch Admiralty yacht running into port with a warship saluting off a quay changed hands for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,530.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aernout Smit achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 62,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

In der Auktion MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES wechselte die Arbeit A Dutch Admiralty yacht running into port with a warship saluting off a quay für GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.530,09) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Aernout Smit erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 62.500,00.
