Upper estimate price exceeded by 47 %.
The work Rockies After a Storm by Albert Bierstadt was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. The »bidding war« ended at USD 176,400.00 (€ 156,285.99), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Bierstadt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Indians Spear Fishing in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,321,000.00 (€ 4,705,012.85).
