Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Cavalier by Albert Bierstadt was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 44,100.00 (€ 39,332.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Bierstadt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Indians Spear Fishing in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,321,000.00 (€ 4,705,012.85).
