Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of the Reichsgräfin von Fries, née Gräfin Anna d'Escherny (1737-1807), seated, half length, in a plumed headdress and white satin fur-trimmed gown by Alexander Roslin was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,710.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Roslin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work PORTRAITS OF LOUIS AND OF MARGUERITE DE CONZIÉ (1697-1763 AND 1721-1786) in December 2020 with an auction result of EUR 387,600.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of the Reichsgräfin von Fries, née Gräfin Anna d'Escherny (1737-1807), seated, half length, in a plumed headdress and white satin fur-trimmed gown von Alexander Roslin wurde im Juli 2013 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 25.710,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Roslin erzielen.
