Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Amongst the Chickens by Alexandre Defaux was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,050.00 (€ 7,557.89). Other works by Alexandre Defaux have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2003 by the work Printemps, poules sous le pommier en fleurs at USD 14,340.00 (€ 12,352.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Amongst the Chickens von Alexandre Defaux im Mai 2000 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.050,00 (€ 7.557,89) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Alexandre Defaux wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2003 die Arbeit Printemps, poules sous le pommier en fleurs mit USD 14.340,00 (€ 12.352,49).
