Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Feeding time by Alexandre Defaux was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,292.50 (€ 1,437.23). Admittedly, works by Alexandre Defaux have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Printemps, poules sous le pommier en fleurs in October 2003 with an auction result of USD 14,340.00 (€ 12,352.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Feeding time von Alexandre Defaux im Oktober 2001 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.292,50 (€ 1.437,23) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexandre Defaux auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Printemps, poules sous le pommier en fleurs im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.340,00 (€ 12.352,49).
