Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Bustling Market, Egypt by Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in London in September 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,385.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French a Desert Passage in April 2017 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 35,625.52).
