Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lake in the Wind River Country by Alfred Jacob Miller was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 62,500.00 (€ 58,188.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Jacob Miller achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pawnee Running a Buffalo in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,565,000.00 (€ 1,405,478.22).
