In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art, which included the work New Forest ponies at Tyrrell's Ford by Algernon Talmage. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,160.00 (€ 12,046.72), 63% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Algernon Talmage; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Derby, 1931 sold at auction in November 2001 with the realized price of GBP 14,100.00 (€ 22,437.54).

Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit New Forest ponies at Tyrrell's Ford von Algernon Talmage zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.160,00 (€ 12.046,72) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Algernon Talmage; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Derby, 1931 im November 2001 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 14.100,00 (€ 22.437,54).
