Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled, from Silueta Series, Iowa, 1978 by Ana Mendieta was sold in the Photographs: The Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in October 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,647.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ana Mendieta have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (From the Fetish Series) in February 2008 with an auction result of GBP 102,500.00 (€ 134,065.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled, from Silueta Series, Iowa, 1978 von Ana Mendieta wurde im Oktober 2016 in der Auktion Photographs: The Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 29.647,87) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ana Mendieta auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (From the Fetish Series) im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.500,00 (€ 134.065,98).
