Auction result misses estimated price range

In November 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work Ice Cream Dessert by Andy Warhol for USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,647.19). This price was achieved in the auction Andy Warhol at Christie's Sold to Benefit the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im November 2012 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Ice Cream Dessert von Andy Warhol für USD 11.250,00 (€ 8.647,19) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Andy Warhol at Christie's Sold to Benefit the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andy Warhol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shot Sage Blue Marilyn im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 195.040.000,00 (€ 181.753.797,41).
