Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Sixty-Five Theatrical Images, 1950S by Angus McBean was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2006, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,334.62). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Angus McBean - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Audrey Hepburn, 1951, which sold at auction in September 2019 for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,336.20).

Als die Arbeit Sixty-Five Theatrical Images, 1950S von Angus McBean im Juni 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 800,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 5.760,00 (€ 8.334,62) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Angus McBean mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Audrey Hepburn, 1951 beobachtet, die im September 2019 für GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.336,20) versteigert wurde.
