Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Brahmin Boy) by Anjolie Ela Menon was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 42,000.00 (€ 42,931.62). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Anjolie Ela Menon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in March 2006 for USD 144,000.00 (€ 118,625.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Brahmin Boy) von Anjolie Ela Menon im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 42.000,00 (€ 42.931,62) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Anjolie Ela Menon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im März 2006 für USD 144.000,00 (€ 118.625,92) versteigert wurde.
