Despite a disappointment, a good price for Antonio Cimatori
When the work Christ on the Cross between the two Thieves by Antonio Cimatori was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,679.99). Despite this disappointing result, Christ on the Cross between the two Thieves is the most expensive artwork by Antonio Cimatori that we have observed at auction so far.
