Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Miss Ann Goldsmid (1782-1811), full-length, seated in a landscape, in a white dress, with a whippet by Arthur William Devis was auctioned at Christies in London in May last year. The price achieved of GBP 16,380.00 (€ 19,269.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur William Devis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the children of Benjamin Goldsmid, with a pony and a dog in a landscape in May last year with an auction result of GBP 201,600.00 (€ 237,163.21).
