The work Saint Joseph With The Christ Child by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2013. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 698,500.00 (€ 840,187.17), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Christ the Man of Sorrows in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,587,969.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Saint Joseph With The Christ Child von Bartolomé Esteban Murillo wurde im Dezember 2013 in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 698.500,00 (€ 840.187,17) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bartolomé Esteban Murillo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Christ the Man of Sorrows im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.587.969,60).
