It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,713.69) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bartholomeus Molenaer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Classroom Interior, which sold at auction in May 2009 for EUR 11,250.00.

Die Arbeit Figures drinking and smoking in a barn von Bartholomeus Molenaer kam im Juli 2013 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.713,69) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Bartholomeus Molenaer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Classroom Interior beobachtet, die im Mai 2009 für EUR 11.250,00 versteigert wurde.
