Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Benjamin Williams Leader achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2019. In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art auction, the work Hedge Row Elms At Hillocks Green sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,469.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin Williams Leader achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kempsey Church on the River Severn in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 135,750.00 (€ 215,180.46).
