The »bidding war« ended at GBP 38,240.00 (€ 54,161.95), 27% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernhard Keil - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A recumbent shepherd boy with a sleeping dog by his side, a wicker basket at his feet, which sold at auction in December 2001 for GBP 119,250.00 (€ 194,837.97).

Die Arbeit A boy seated holding a red pot with his left hand von Bernhard Keil wurde im Dezember 2003 in der Auktion Old Master Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 38.240,00 (€ 54.161,95) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Bernhard Keil mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A recumbent shepherd boy with a sleeping dog by his side, a wicker basket at his feet beobachtet, die im Dezember 2001 für GBP 119.250,00 (€ 194.837,97) versteigert wurde.
