This artwork by Berthe Morisot achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the The Cox Collection: The Story of Impressionism, Evening Sale auction, the work Fillette portant un panier sold for USD 5,310,000 (€ 4,704,527) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000,000. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Berthe Morisot; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Femme et enfant au balcon sold at auction in February 2017 with the realized price of GBP 4,085,000 (€ 4,780,966).
