Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Back Yard' (Santa Monica) (from '100 Prints' portfolio) by Brett Weston was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,735.67). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Weston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Hand And Ear' (Ramiel Mcgehee) in April 2012 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 47,244.69).
