Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Painting with Two Verticals 3 by Bridget Riley was auctioned at Christies in London in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,242,000.00 (€ 1,446,916.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bridget Riley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Diagonal Curve), which sold at auction in June 2016 for GBP 4,338,500.00 (€ 5,207,615.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Painting with Two Verticals 3 von Bridget Riley kam im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200.000,00 – 1.800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.242.000,00 (€ 1.446.916,25) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Bridget Riley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Diagonal Curve) beobachtet, die im Juni 2016 für GBP 4.338.500,00 (€ 5.207.615,75) versteigert wurde.
