Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Bui Xuan Phai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2020. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Day Sale auction, the work Ha Long Bay sold for HKD 693,000.00 (€ 76,755.39) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bui Xuan Phai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Houses, which sold at auction in May 2021 for HKD 1,625,000.00 (€ 171,775.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Bui Xuan Phai erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Ha Long Bay für HKD 693.000,00 (€ 76.755,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Bui Xuan Phai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Houses beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für HKD 1.625.000,00 (€ 171.775,05) versteigert wurde.
