Despite a disappointment, a good price for Carl Brennir
In May 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Going fishing by Carl Brennir for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,600.16). This price was achieved in the auction British and Victorian Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Going fishing is the most expensive artwork by Carl Brennir that we have observed at auction so far.
