Signed C. Milles. Foundry mark L.R.20 cire perdue. Bronze, green patina. Height 38.5 cm (including black stonebase 51.5 cm).

In June 2014 Bukowski in Stockholm held the auction Classic Sale, which included the work "Jona och valfisken" (= Jonah and the whale) by Carl Milles. The »bidding war« ended at SEK 115,000.00 (€ 12,558.44), 44% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Carl Milles have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Naiad and dolphin in December 2010 with an auction result of SEK 1,100,000.00 (€ 122,609.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2014 führte Bukowski in Stockholm die Auktion Classic Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit "Jona och valfisken" (= Jonah and the whale) von Carl Milles zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von SEK 115.000,00 (€ 12.558,44) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Carl Milles auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Naiad and dolphin im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von SEK 1.100.000,00 (€ 122.609,09).
