In June 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Venice, A View Of The Dogana Seen Through A Large Doorway by Charles-Auguste van den Berghe. The »bidding war« ended at USD 71,250.00 (€ 54,765.56), 19% above the upper estimate. With this result, Venice, A View Of The Dogana Seen Through A Large Doorway is even the most expensive work of art by Charles-Auguste van den Berghe that we have observed at auctions so far.
