The work The Afternoon Nap by Charles Edouard de Beaumont was sold in the Orientalist Art auction at Christies in New York in October 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,600.00 (€ 18,007.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Afternoon Nap is the most expensive artwork by Charles Edouard de Beaumont that we have observed at auctions so far.
