Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Thoughts by the wayside by Charles Edward Wilson was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,975.00 (€ 9,356.54). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Edward Wilson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Home Sweet Home, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 23,149.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Thoughts by the wayside von Charles Edward Wilson im November 2002 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.975,00 (€ 9.356,54) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Edward Wilson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Home Sweet Home beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 15.600,00 (€ 23.149,62) versteigert wurde.
