This artwork by Charles Towne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in October 2021. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Thomas Ewart'S Bay Hunter Held By A Groom In The Grounds Of His Country House, Everton sold for GBP 20,250.00 (€ 23,990.78) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Towne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A bay hunter and three pointers in a landscape with Lyston Hall beyond in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 138,650.00 (€ 214,460.15).
