This artwork by Charles Wirgman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2010. In the Travel, Science and Natural History auction, the work Junks at anchor in a bay sold for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,891.52) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Wirgman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Japanese Warriors in October 2013 with an auction result of GBP 20,625.00 (€ 24,378.59).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Charles Wirgman erzielte im September 2010 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History wurde die Arbeit Junks at anchor in a bay für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.891,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Wirgman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Japanese Warriors im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.625,00 (€ 24.378,59).
