Artwork auctioned at 28 times the upper estimate price
When the work Autumn birds and flowers by Chen Zi was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in December 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 2,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 28 times as high at HKD 56,700.00 (€ 6,422.46). Admittedly, works by Chen Zi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Camellia, Bamboo and Rock in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 547,500.00 (€ 45,073.75).
Kunstwerk zum 28-fachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Autumn birds and flowers von Chen Zi im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 2.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 56.700,00 (€ 6.422,46) mehr als 28-mal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chen Zi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Camellia, Bamboo and Rock im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 547.500,00 (€ 45.073,75).
