Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Woman Cutting Roses In A Garden by Childe Hassam was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 988,000.00 (€ 810,234.54). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Childe Hassam achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flags On 57Th Street, Winter 1918 in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 12,328,500.00 (€ 10,110,300.15).
