Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Clément Pujol de Guastavino could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European & Orientalist Art auction, the work The messenger changed hands for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,691.62) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Clément Pujol de Guastavino have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Spanish An Audience Before The Emir in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 157,000.00 (€ 100,847.89).
