Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Modern Medici: Masterpieces from a New York Collection, which included the work The Temptation Of Saint Anthony by Cornelis Saftleven. It changed hands for a price of USD 75,600.00 (€ 69,626.08) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cornelis Saftleven have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A cat peeping through a fence in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 357,599.81).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Modern Medici: Masterpieces from a New York Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Temptation Of Saint Anthony von Cornelis Saftleven zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 75.600,00 (€ 69.626,08) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cornelis Saftleven auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A cat peeping through a fence im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 441.600,00 (€ 357.599,81).
