This artwork by Damrong Wong-Uparaj achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2011. In the Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the work Three Movements sold for HKD 400,000.00 (€ 35,781.86) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 140,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Damrong Wong-Uparaj - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962, which sold at auction in March 2019 for HKD 875,625.00 (€ 99,353.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Damrong Wong-Uparaj erzielte im Mai 2011 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Three Movements für HKD 400.000,00 (€ 35.781,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 140.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Damrong Wong-Uparaj mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 beobachtet, die im März 2019 für HKD 875.625,00 (€ 99.353,96) versteigert wurde.
