Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work « Tattoo » Species Matchheads, 2000 by David Mach was auctioned at Artcurial in Paris in June 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,500.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Mach achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Silver Back in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 74,500.00 (€ 95,906.21).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit « Tattoo » Species Matchheads, 2000 von David Mach im Juni 2011 bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.500,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 3.000,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Mach erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Silver Back im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 74.500,00 (€ 95.906,21).
