The »bidding war« ended at GBP 194,500.00 (€ 250,386.00), 62% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Denys Calvaert; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Holy Family With Saint John The Baptist And An Angel sold at auction in January 2018 with the realized price of USD 591,000.00 (€ 475,539.11).
