Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ijlal li Iraq (Homage to Iraq) by Dia Al-Azzawi was auctioned at Christies in Dubai in March 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 58,422.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dia Al-Azzawi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Arsak Mowt (Your Wedding is Death), which sold at auction in October 2016 for USD 235,500.00 (€ 214,833.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Ijlal li Iraq (Homage to Iraq) von Dia Al-Azzawi kam im März 2017 bei Christies in Dubai zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 58.422,13) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Dia Al-Azzawi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Arsak Mowt (Your Wedding is Death) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für USD 235.500,00 (€ 214.833,06) versteigert wurde.
