Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work "Thy Turfy Mountains, Where Live Nibbling Sheep" by Edmund Dulac was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,957.57). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmund Dulac - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Little Mermaid (At the mere sight of the bright liquid they drew back in terror), which sold at auction in June 2010 for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 67,189.14).
