This work of art by Edward Linley Sambourne could be acquired at Christies in London in September 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects auction, the work Design for 'The King of all the Britains!', published in Punch, 1 January 1902 (i) and another cartoon design of King Edward VII (ii) changed hands for GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,102.66) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Despite this disappointing result, Design for 'The King of all the Britains!', published in Punch, 1 January 1902 (i) and another cartoon design of King Edward VII (ii) is the most expensive artwork by Edward Linley Sambourne that we have observed at auction so far.
