Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Movie Star) by Edward Patrick Byrne was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,112.77). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Patrick Byrne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (House with Pink Path), which sold at auction in January 2003 for USD 3,824.00 (€ 3,560.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Movie Star) von Edward Patrick Byrne im Januar 2003 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.195,00 (€ 1.112,77) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Patrick Byrne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (House with Pink Path) beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für USD 3.824,00 (€ 3.560,85) versteigert wurde.
