Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Edward Williams could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian Paintings auction, the work The River Yare, near Norwich changed hands for GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,944.47) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Edward Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A river estuary with a windmill and cottages, boats in the foreground and cattle watering at the river edge in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,204.70).
