Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Fernando Cueto Amorsolo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2010. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction, the work Dalagang Filipina (Filipino Maiden) sold for HKD 500,000.00 (€ 46,422.92) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 220,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fernando Cueto Amorsolo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Maiden With Fruits, 1930 in March 2019 with an auction result of HKD 4,975,625.00 (€ 564,565.93).
